Pepper, a child-sized robot designed by the Japanese and French, can not only interact with people, he can read their emotions and react in kind. The goal is to put Pepper for sale for everyday consumers to buy and have in their homes.
Powered with infrared sensors, cameras, and recognition technology, he is 100% autonomous and his movements are life-like. But he may not be as advanced as we’d like him to be. He will avoid questions that aren’t in his knowledge-bank, often diverting you to talk about your blood type (the Japanese equivalent of asking about your horoscope). Even funnier, he will demand that you call him cute, and if you don’t say it with enough gusto, he’ll call you on it.
